Derived from the flax plant, linen's durability and tendency to grow softer with time make it ideal for bedding that can last for years. Linen is naturally moisture absorbent and insulating. It keeps you cool when you are hot, and warms when you are cold. Linen is also hypoallergenic and antimicrobial.

Our Vintage Linen uses a 28 single-metric yarn in both the warp and the weft. The weave is extremely balanced, which produces a linen fabric that is both soft and sturdy. The magic of our Vintage Linen is in the special washing process we use in our dyehouse. This wash opens and penetrates the depths of the fibers, softening each one and creating a truly special sleep.

Nap is our best-selling hotel fabric for a reason; it is a classic. It is also clear evidence that thread-count is not everything.

This percale has a nice crisp finish that recalls the comfort of a lightly-starched white dress shirt. Nap will get softer and softer with every washing and it will be a favorite in your linen closet for many, many years.

Nap is woven with the finest 40's single-strand yarn available.The Italians call this weave a "quattro-quaranta" or "4-by-40". This means it uses 40's yarn in both the warp and the weft and has a density of 40 threads per centimeter in the warp as well as 40 picks per centimeter in the weft. The result is a fabric with a sturdy, balanced weave. Nap will last for a very long time making it ideal for not only hotels, but for any bedroom.

When thread count became all the rage, we were disappointed with some of the gimmicks that were being used to declare absurdly high thread counts. Especially in percale fabrics. Thread count is simply a measurement of how many threads are in one square inch of fabric. A percale is a plain weave (or 1-over-1 structure) it is very challenging to weave a percale in very high thread counts; you can only pack so many threads into one square inch!

We love percale, so we decided to make the highest thread count percale possible using a very thin 100 singles cotton yarn. This is why we called it Tru(e). It is indeed a true 400 thread count percale with a light soft crispness that makes for a wonderful sleep.

Washed Sateen is a classic 4 over 1 sateen weave using a mid-weight 60's single cotton yarn in both the warp and weft. The result is a beautiful 300 thread count fabric. This sateen construction provides both silkiness and stability so that your sheets will wash and wear wonderfully for years. Washed Sateen is a great basic sheet for any room in your home and has the proper weight and weave density to achieve both softness and breathability.

Sei is our highest thread count fabric at 600 TC. We are not myopically focused on thread count at MATTEO. Thread count is one among many measurements of quality in the world of bed linens. The most simple definition of thread count is to take a pair of scissors and cut out a square inch of fabric and count each individual yarn (or thread). This is the thread count and, as such, thread count is simply a definition of the density of the weave. It does not take into consideration the softness of the raw cotton used or the size and smoothness of the yarn, nor does it measure the balance of the weave. Focusing only only thread count is similar to deciding which beer to drink by only measuring its alcohol content.

We have not yet gone above 600 thread count at MATTEO because higher counts typically produce a stiff and dense fabric that does not move or breathe. All sateens (or satin) fabrics have a face which is softer and a backside which is rougher. This is what creates the "silky" feel that customers love so much. And our customers love Sei because it is one of the purest, softest, and silkiest fabrics on the market.

We created our Vintage Cotton fabric to remind us of a different time when everything was made by hand. Prior to the advent of modern yarn-spinning equipment, all yarns had slubs. Slubbed or slub-yarn has both irregular length and diameter. Working closely with our yarn spinners and our weavers we created a unique fabric with lots of slubs while not missing any stability or softness. Vintage Cotton will get softer and softer with each washing, and it is a wonderful choice for those who want a 100% cotton fabric with a linen feel.

Our newest sheeting fabric, Lawn is made from extra long staple 100% combed cotton. Reminiscent of a vintage summer dress, this fabric uses a thicker cotton yarn in an open plain weave for a soft lightly brushed feel. The open weave allows for high airflow, while the thick yarns create a sturdy fabric that will soften with use without losing any structure. We wash each product with our special garment washing process for an even softer hand.

Loomstate pieces in the Lawn collection are only garment-washed for softness and completely dye and chemical free. You can see small specs of the cotton shell within the fibers.
