Cluny Sham Single

The Cluny Sham is 100% linen with a 100% cotton cluny lace trim. The linen base is our Vintage Linen fabric, woven with a 28 single-metric yarn in both the warp and the weft for a balanced construction that is soft and sturdy. The cotton lace flange adds a delicate, tactile border without compromising the integrity of the high quality vintage linen body.

The Cluny Sham is available in three sizes: Queen (20 x 30 inches / 51 x 76 cm), King (20 x 36 inches / 51 x 91 cm), and Euro (26 x 26 inches / 66 x 66 cm). Each size is sold as a single sham, so order accordingly if you need a pair for your bed.

Shams and pillowcases both protect pillow inserts, but they differ in construction and finish. Shams are more fitted and use a closure, such as the envelope closure on the Cluny Sham, to keep the pillow in place. Pillowcases loosely encase the pillow and are open on one side. Shams are typically used as a decorative layering piece on a made bed, while pillowcases are the everyday sleep surface.

Yes. Linen is naturally hypoallergenic and antimicrobial, making it a sound choice for sensitive skin. The Cluny Sham is garment-washed using a special process that opens and softens the fibers before the sham reaches you, so it does not have the rough hand feel associated with unwashed linen. It is also dyed with non-toxic dyes, with no chlorine bleach or harsh whitening agents used in production.

Linen is known for its ability to grow softer with each wash. The Cluny Sham arrives already garment-washed, which gives it a lived-in softness from the start, and it will continue to improve with use. Machine wash in lukewarm water with a gentle detergent and a cool rinse, separating lights and darks. Tumble dry on low heat and remove promptly to reduce wrinkling; line drying gives the best result. Do not use bleach or products containing whitening agents, as these will damage the garment-dyed color.

The Cluny Sham is available in fifteen colors: White, Moon, Off White, Greige, Salt, Oat, Mica, Bay, Alpine, Iris, Coal, Fig, Bark, Night, and Smoke. Because the shams are garment-dyed, a shade variation of up to 10% between dye lots is inherent to the process and part of the character of the fabric. Colors in the same family, such as White, Moon, and Off White, offer a range of cool-to-warm neutrals suited to most bed linen palettes.

The envelope closure keeps the pillow insert secure and the face clean, which is the standard in high-end hospitality settings.
