The Riviera Hand Towel is 100% cotton, woven in Brazil using the finest Brazilian cotton on the market. It is garment-washed and dyed using non-toxic dyes, and the terry weave construction uses a special 2-ply yarn in the pile for high absorbency and long-term durability.

GSM stands for grams per square meter, a standard measure of towel density. At 645 GSM, the Riviera Hand Towel is heavy enough to absorb water efficiently after a single use, yet light enough to dry relatively quickly and travel well. This weight places it in the range used by high-quality resort and hotel properties.

The Riviera Hand Towel measures 39 x 19 inches (99 x 48 cm). The full Riviera collection also includes a Sheet Towel (35 x 69 in), Bath Towel (30 x 63 in), Wash Towel (12 x 13 in), and Bath Mat (18 x 31 in) for a coordinated set.

Separate light and dark colors before washing, and avoid overloading the machine to protect the long cotton fibers. Use a lukewarm wash cycle with a gentle detergent and a cool rinse, then tumble dry on low heat or line dry for best results. Avoid chlorine bleach, alpha hydroxy acids, and benzoyl peroxide on garment-dyed colors, as the reactive dyes are not resistant to these whitening agents. White towels may be bleached. Garment-dyeing is a process in which the finished towel is dyed as a whole piece rather than dyeing the yarn or fabric before construction. This technique produces a lived-in, dimensional color with subtle tonal variation that becomes more characterful over time. Because garment-dyeing is an art rather than a precise science, MATTEO allows for a shade variation of +/- 10% between dye lots, which means two towels ordered at different times may carry slightly different tones.

The garment-washing process softens the cotton fibers before the towel reaches you, so it does not require multiple wash cycles to reach peak softness. The Riviera Hand Towel is available in fifteen colors: White, Moon, Off White, Greige, Salt, Iris, Mica, Oat, Bay, Alpine, Coal, Fig, Bark, Night, and Smoke. Because each towel is garment-dyed using reactive dyes, MATTEO allows for a shade variation of +/- 10% between dye lots. Colors purchased in the same order will be consistent with each other; separate orders may show slight tonal differences.
