Tru Sham Single

The Tru Sham is 100% cotton, woven in a percale plain weave (a 1-over-1 structure) at a true 400 thread count. Thread count measures how many threads are packed into one square inch of fabric. In a percale weave, achieving 400 is technically demanding because the plain weave structure limits how many threads can physically fit, so MATTEO uses a very thin 100 singles cotton yarn to reach this count honestly. The result is a light, softly crisp hand that gets better with each wash.

A sham has a fitted construction with a defined closure to hold the pillow insert securely in place, while a standard pillowcase is open on one side and loosely encases the pillow. The Tru Sham has a clean knife edge seam and a hidden envelope closure, giving the bed a more finished look. Darker colorways also include a 1/4-inch hem with a contrasting white stitch at the back closure edge. The Tru Sham is garment-washed and dyed using non-toxic reactive dyes after the fabric is sewn, not before. Garment-dyeing is an artisanal process, and because each dye lot is handled individually, MATTEO allows for a shade variation of +/- 10% between lots. This is inherent to the process, not a defect. Wash light and dark colors separately in a lukewarm cycle with a gentle detergent and a cool rinse. Do not overload the machine, as overcrowding puts stress on the long cotton fibers. Tumble dry on low heat and remove promptly to reduce wrinkling; line drying gives the best results. If you prefer a crisp pressed finish, iron the sham while slightly damp on the Lightweight Cotton or Medium setting. Avoid any whitening agents, chlorine bleach, alpha hydroxy acids, or benzoyl peroxide on garment-dyed colors, as reactive dyes are not resistant to these.
