Organic Cotton Sateen Sham Single

The sham is made from 100% Egyptian cotton in a sateen weave, 300 thread count, woven with pure 60's yarn and garment-washed in MATTEO's Los Angeles dye-house. The garment-washing process produces a fabric that softens further with each wash rather than breaking down. This is MATTEO's Organic Washed Sateen, developed over two decades of refinement.

A sham has a more fitted construction with a defined closure, in this case an envelope back, to hold the pillow insert securely in place. A pillowcase loosely encases the pillow and is open on one side. The Organic Cotton Sateen Sham also has a 1/2" micro-flange with contrasting white double-stitch detail, which gives it a tailored, finished look that a standard pillowcase does not.

The sham is available in three sizes: King (20 x 36 inches / 51 x 91 cm), Queen (20 x 30 inches / 51 x 76 cm), and Euro (26 x 26 inches / 66 x 66 cm). Each size uses an envelope closure to hold the pillow insert in place without buttons or zippers.

Wash in lukewarm water with a gentle detergent on a light cycle, separating light and dark colors. Do not overload the machine, as this stresses the long cotton fibers. Tumble dry on low heat and remove promptly to reduce wrinkling. If the sham is garment-dyed, avoid chlorine bleach, alpha hydroxy acids, and benzoyl peroxide, as the reactive dyes used in garment-dyeing are not resistant to these agents. The garment-washing step removes surface stiffness before the product ships, so it arrives soft against the skin rather than requiring a break-in period. Cotton sateen at 300 thread count has a smooth face that reduces friction compared to percale or lower thread-count weaves.

The sham is available in fifteen colors: White, Moon, Off White, Greige, Salt, Iris, Mica, Oat, Bay, Alpine, Coal, Fig, Bark, Night, and Smoke. Because these shams are garment-dyed, a shade variation of plus or minus 10% between dye lots is normal and expected. If you are purchasing multiple shams to match, ordering from the same dye lot at the same time is the most reliable way to ensure color consistency.

The sham uses an envelope closure on the back, which holds standard King, Queen, or Euro pillow inserts securely without buttons, ties, or zippers. The envelope opening is sized to match each sham dimension, so a 20 x 36 King sham fits a standard King pillow insert.
