The garment-washing process removes stiffness before the pillowcase reaches you, so the fabric sits gently against skin from the first night. If you are prone to irritation, avoid bleach and whitening agents on garment-dyed colorways, as these can break down the reactive dyes and alter the finish.

The Nap Pillowcase is available in Queen (20 x 33 inches / 51 x 84 cm) and King (20 x 39 inches / 51 x 99 cm). MATTEO does not offer a Standard size; for a Standard pillow insert, we recommend the Queen pillowcase. It will hang slightly longer over the edge of the insert, which can be tucked in to create an envelope-style closure or taken to a seamstress for a simple alteration.

A sham is more fitted and uses a closure, such as a flap, zipper, or button, to keep the pillow insert securely in place. Wash the Nap Pillowcases in lukewarm water with a gentle detergent and a cool rinse, separating light and dark colors. Do not overload the machine, as this can damage the long cotton fibers. Avoid chlorine bleach, alpha hydroxy acids, and benzoyl peroxide on garment-dyed colorways; these whitening agents are not compatible with reactive dyes and will cause fading. Because garment-dyeing is an artisanal process, MATTEO allows for a shade variation of plus or minus 10% from dye lot to dye lot, meaning pillowcases purchased at different times may have slight tonal differences.
