The Organic Cotton Sateen Sheet Set is woven from 100% Egyptian cotton using pure 60's yarn, then garment-washed and dyed with non-toxic reactive dyes, leaving no harsh chemical residue on the fabric surface. The sateen weave at 300 thread count produces a smooth, dense surface with no synthetic finishes applied after production. All colorways are free of chlorine bleach and whitening agents, which are among the most common irritants in mass-market bedding. The garment-wash process we use in our Los Angeles dye house opens and softens the fibers before the sheets ever reach you, so there is no stiff breaking-in period for skin that is easily irritated.

Conventional sateen is often woven from commodity cotton treated with optical brighteners and enzyme softeners that degrade the fiber over time. Our Organic Washed Sateen is woven from 100% Egyptian cotton grown without synthetic pesticides, then garment-dyed using non-toxic dyes in our Boyle Heights factory in Los Angeles. The result is a 300 thread count sateen that softens with each washing rather than thinning and pilling the way chemically finished sheets typically do. We built this fabric twenty years ago because we wanted a sateen that did not require ironing and would genuinely last.

Sateen is woven with more yarn surface exposed on the face of the fabric, which creates a smooth, slightly lustrous hand compared to the matte, crisp surface of percale. At 300 thread count in pure 60's Egyptian cotton yarn, this sateen sits on the warmer, softer side of the cotton spectrum, with a gentle weight that slides against skin rather than resting on it. Percale, by contrast, has a one-over-one-under weave structure that produces the crisp, breathable feel of a lightly starched shirt. Every set includes one fitted sheet and one flat sheet, with pillowcases scaled to the bed size. King and Cal King sets include two king pillowcases. Queen and Full sets include two queen pillowcases. Twin and Twin XL sets include one queen pillowcase. All items in the set are garment-dyed together in the color you select, so every piece is the same dye lot. If you want to mix colors, order individual pieces separately.

Machine wash in lukewarm water with a gentle detergent, keeping light and dark colors separated, and rinse in cool water. Tumble dry on low heat and remove the sheets promptly to reduce wrinkling; line drying gives the best long-term result. Do not use bleach, chlorine-based products, alpha hydroxy acids, or benzoyl peroxide, as these will break down the reactive garment dye. Because garment-dyeing is an art and not an exact science, we allow for a shade variation of plus or minus 10% between dye lots.
