Sei Sham Single

The Sei Sham is 100% cotton in a sateen weave, woven at 600 thread count using 120/2 Ne yarn in both warp and weft. It is garment-washed after construction, which gives it a soft, silky hand without the stiffness common in high-count fabrics. The sateen face is smooth and lustrous; the reverse is slightly matte, which is standard for all sateen and satin constructions.

Thread count measures the density of the weave, counting individual yarns per square inch. It does not account for raw cotton quality, yarn fineness, or weave balance. At MATTEO, we stopped at 600 TC because counts above that typically produce fabric that feels stiff and does not breathe well. The Sei fabric at 600 TC uses high-quality 120/2 Ne yarn to achieve softness and drape that higher counts rarely deliver.

A pillowcase loosely encloses a pillow insert and is open on one side. A sham is more fitted and uses a closure method to hold the insert in place. The Sei Sham has a 1/2-inch micro-flange with double-stitch detail and an envelope closure, so the pillow insert stays secure whether the bed is dressed for sleeping or display.

The Sei Sham is available in Queen (20 x 30 inches / 51 x 76 cm), King (20 x 36 inches / 51 x 91 cm), and Euro (26 x 26 inches / 66 x 66 cm). Wash light and dark colors separately in a lukewarm cycle with a gentle detergent and a cool rinse. Do not overload the machine, as this can damage the long cotton fibers. Tumble dry on low heat and remove promptly to reduce wrinkling. If the sham is garment-dyed, avoid chlorine bleach, alpha hydroxy acids, or benzoyl peroxide, as these strip the reactive dyes used in the dyeing process.

Yes, the Sei Shams are garment-dyed, meaning the dye is applied after the sham is fully constructed rather than to the raw yarn or fabric. This process produces a lived-in depth of color but, because dyeing is an artisanal process rather than a mechanical one, MATTEO allows for a shade variation of plus or minus 10 percent between dye lots.
