The Vintage Linen Flat Sheet is 100% linen, woven using a 28 single-metric yarn in both the warp and the weft. This balanced weave produces a fabric that is soft without sacrificing durability. Every sheet is garment-washed and dyed using non-toxic dyes at MATTEO's dyehouse in Los Angeles, which opens and softens the fibers so the sheet feels broken-in from the first night.

Linen is naturally hypoallergenic and antimicrobial, making it a strong choice for sleepers with sensitive skin or allergies. Derived from the flax plant, it is free from synthetic fiber blends, and MATTEO's Vintage Linen is dyed exclusively with non-toxic dyes, so no harsh chemical residues remain in the fabric. The garment-washing process further softens each fiber before the sheet reaches you, reducing the stiffness that can irritate sensitive skin.

Raw linen can feel coarser than cotton at first because of the natural structure of flax fibers. Wash light and dark colors separately in a lukewarm cycle with a gentle detergent and a cool rinse. Do not use bleach or any products containing whitening agents such as chlorine bleach, alpha hydroxy acids, or benzoyl peroxide, as these will damage the garment-dyed finish. Garment-dyeing is an artisanal process, and MATTEO allows for a shade variation of +/- 10% between dye lots. This means two sheets ordered in the same color at different times may differ slightly in tone. Darker colorways on the Vintage Linen Flat Sheet also include a contrasting white topstitch detail that adds a deliberate, handcrafted quality to the finished piece.
