Riviera Wash Towel

The Riviera Wash Towel is 100% cotton, woven in Brazil using a special 2-ply yarn construction with two separate warps: one for the ground and one for the pile. This terry weave structure gives the towel both high absorbency and long-term durability. Each towel is garment-washed and dyed using non-toxic dyes.

The Riviera Wash Towel weighs 645 grams per square meter (GSM), which places it in the high-absorbency range while remaining light enough for easy handling. GSM measures the density of a towel: a higher number means more cotton in the pile, which translates to greater absorbency. At 645 GSM, the Riviera collection has the weight of a resort-quality towel without the bulk.

The Riviera Wash Towel measures 12 x 13 inches (30 x 33 cm). It is the smallest size in the Riviera collection, which also includes a Bath Towel (30 x 63 in), Hand Towel (39 x 19 in), Sheet Towel (35 x 69 in), and Bath Mat (18 x 31 in). All sizes share the same 645 GSM construction and 2-ply pile yarn.

Wash the Riviera Wash Towel separately by light and dark colors using a lukewarm cycle with gentle detergent and a cool rinse. Do not overload the machine, as this can damage the long cotton fibers in the pile. Tumble dry on low heat and remove promptly to reduce wrinkling; line drying is ideal for longevity. Because these towels are garment-dyed, avoid chlorine bleach, alpha hydroxy acids, and benzoyl peroxide, which can strip the reactive dye.

Bleach is safe only on white towels. For all garment-dyed colorways, avoid any products containing chlorine bleach, alpha hydroxy acids, or benzoyl peroxide. The reactive dyes used in the garment-dyeing process are not resistant to these whitening agents, and exposure will cause uneven fading. Garment-dyeing is an artisanal process rather than a controlled industrial one, so MATTEO allows for a shade variation of plus or minus 10% between dye lots. Towels purchased in the same color may show slight tonal differences if they come from different dye lots. This natural variation is characteristic of garment-dyed textiles and does not indicate a defect.
